Fostering Change

 My transition to becoming a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor was a natural evolution from my background in the helping field. Drawing from my own life experiences and personal healing journey, I entered the field with a deep well of compassion and empathy for those I work with. I have a particular passion for supporting adolescents and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate life's challenges. Understanding the lasting impact of childhood trauma on mental well-being in adulthood, I pursued advanced training in complex trauma and somatic techniques to enhance my ability to assist clients in processing trauma effectively.

When considering embarking on this therapeutic journey with me, it is essential to approach our work with honesty and openness. At each session, I strive to meet you where you are, leveraging your inherent resilience and personal resources to foster meaningful and lasting change. A cornerstone of my approach involves empowering clients to discover valuable insights about themselves, acquire new coping skills, and engage in self-discovery throughout our therapeutic partnership. I firmly believe that progress can manifest in various forms, from improved sleep patterns to setting healthier boundaries in relationships or simply being able to take a moment to breathe deeply. I am particularly drawn to working with clients who demonstrate a willingness to take accountability, maintain an open-minded attitude, and commit to nurturing a positive relationship with themselves.

Continuous self-awareness and personal growth are essential aspects of building competency for me as a provider. I emphasize the significance of ongoing learning and development for all individuals. This commitment to growth involves various activities, including participation in seminars focusing on mindfulness or radical self-acceptance. Additionally, I prioritize expanding my skill set through targeted training initiatives like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) training, and I maintain my trauma certification through the exploration of diverse trauma-informed approaches. I strongly believe that embracing opportunities for learning and growth not only enhances my own professional capabilities but also facilitates meaningful collaborations with fellow professionals and clients. Currently, as I advance toward my DBT certification, I am exploring the integration of trauma-focused yoga into my practice.

My approach to care is deeply rooted in my core values, which emphasize the belief that everyone is doing their best while valuing honesty and authenticity. I strive to integrate these values into every facet of my life, ensuring that they are reflected in my interactions with others. Additionally, I am a proponent of restorative justice, viewing the process of repairing harm as the initial step toward healing families and communities. I hold the firm belief that cultivating healthy relationships serves as the cornerstone for fostering healing and facilitating positive transformation.
